3, 2, 1, DONE!

I want to thank everyone for a great school year.  The math curriculum was tough, but you all hung tough and learned a lot.  I am very proud of you and know you will do well in the 7th grade!! 

To help you keep your skills sharp, Skills Tutor will be available over the summer.  I have put new lessons up for you including some on integers for the 7th grade!  If you have forgotten how to get to skills tutor, please look to your right on this blog for the section titled Pages.  There is a document to help you log-in.

Today we further discussed the answers to the review sheet.  We went over questions 13-25.  The answers to these questions are attached below.  Students should complete the review sheet for homework tonight.  If you have already completed it, then review the first 25 questions to prepare for your exam!

Monday, 5-18-09

Students should continue to work on the study guide for the final exam.  The guide was given last week Wednesday.  Attached are the answers for the first 12 questions.

Wednesday, 5-13-09

1, 2 and 3:  Today classes worked on a partner quiz.  The finally product is due tomorrow at the end of class.  Everyone was given the review sheet for the final exam.  Please work on it this evening.

6 and 7:  Classes finished work on their group projects over direct proportion.  Everyone was given an exam review sheet today.  Please complete #1-12 this evening. 

Review sheet schedule:

Monday I will go over problems #1-12; Tuesday I will go over prob lems #13-25; Wednesday I will go over problems #26-38. 

To do well on the exam, you must begin to prepare now.  Work on the review sheet.  Use the online textbook to help with skills you don't remember.  I have tutoring tomorrow and will meet with those who would like help by appointment.  Your success is in your hands!

Tuesday, 5-12-09

Today we continued to work on direct proportion.  1, 2 and 3 periods presented their group questions.  A good job was done by all, and we learned many good points.  Remember, the constant of proportionality it the same as the unit rate.  It is the price for one of something (one movie ticket, one gallon of gas or one chicken biscuit)  Also, when making a graph be certain that the intervals on each axis are equal.  If you don't, your graph will not accurately explain your data!

Tomorrow 1, 2 and 3 period will work on an assessment for this unit.  You will work in pairs based on the "summer job" you pick in class.  Please review your notes (yellow page) to prepare.

6 and 7:  tomorrow your final group project in due!

Study Guide for exam is coming to a classroom near you!  I will have a review sheet for the final ready for students no later than Thursday.  To help you start to study, please see the attached year end review and answer key below.  The more you prepare, the better you will do!

Monday, 5-11-09

I hope everyone had a restful weekend.  It is so near the end of the year, but the work is not yet finished!  Please keep your head in the game!

1, 2 and 3:  Today you completed your group presentations.  All groups will present tomorrow.  Please be sure to do your part to have the group ready.  Those who took the project home to finish, please make sure you have it here tomorrow.  Your group is depending on you.

6 and 7:  Today you began working on your group presentation.  We will continue to work tomorrow.  Your presentations are on Wednesday.

All classes:  Once the presentations are complete, students will work on the summer job task in pairs.

Final exams are coming!  Begin to review your spirals and using Skills Tutor.  Your exams will be on Thursday and Friday of the last week of school.  It is critical that you are in attendance!  Remember, summer vacation  doesn't begin until 4:15 on Friday, May 22!

I hope everyone enjoyed their day at Camp Half-Blood!  It was a busy and fun day.

Here is the rundown for the next two weeks:

May 11-13:  Students will finish working on direct proportion.  Please look over the exercises found on the parent letter for Unit 8.  (this letter can be found on the right side of the blog under pages; parent letters; unit 8)

May 14-15:  Students will be introduced to inetgers as an introduction to 7th grade.

May 18-20:  Review for the final

May 21 and 22:  Students take final exams in each class.  Please be sure your child is in school the last two days of the year.  These exams do count towards the final grade average.

I cannot believe that there are only 14 days until summer vacation!  WOW!  Let's make the last few count.

1, 2 and 3:  you have a quiz over Direct Proportion tomorrow.  Once the quiz is finished, you will get in groups and start your group project. 

6 and 7:  today we wrote the last EQ for the school year.  You will begin work on Direct Proportion tomorrow.  Please review the notes given or find the parent letter on the blog.  Look to the right side of the blog under Pages; click parent letters; click unit 8 and print.

Tomorow we will have a test over probability.  Review your notes and use the online textbook to help you study.  Theoretical and experimental probability are in chapter 12. 

Tutoring for the test will be tomorrow morning at 8:15 in room 123.
