Welcome to Lovinggood

Welcome to Lovinggood.  I am very happy that you are here, and I hope that your first week of middle school has been great.  I have gotten to meet a lot of you this week and I am sure that I will continue getting to know more of you as the year progresses.  I will be coming around to your classrooms in the next few weeks to do my formal introduction, and tell you all about the services the Guidance Department has to offer you.  Have a great weekend and come back rested and ready to learn next week.

Career and College Search

Hello,

This week we are beginning the registration process for next year.  Can you believe that you are almost a high school student?  For those of you who will be attending Hillgrove High School your registration worksheet is due March 8th.  Those are the forms that allow you to chose 4 electives and 2 alternates for next year.  Please remember to get your parents to look over your choices, initial by each choice, and sign the worksheet.  Also be sure you number your choices (1-6).  1 being the elective you want the most and 5 & 6 being your alternates.  If you have been accepted to a Magnet School and will not be attending Hillgrove, please come by and let me know.  Also, if you are at Lovinggood as a choice student, you will be returning to your home high school for next year.  Registration packets from those schools will be given to you as soon as I recieve them.  As you can see it is a very busy time of year for 8th grade students.  You are preparing for next year and getting ready to take the CRCT in April.  Remember you must pass the Reading, English/Language Arts and Math sections of the CRCT along with your 8th grade classes in order to be promoted to the high school.

I have been going into classrooms to do guidance lessons on career exploration.  I am connecting the selection of elective courses at the high school with your opportuninty to begin to explore career options.  I promised you that I would put links to career and college search engines on my blog for you to do some further exploration on your own.  Here are the promised websites.  Happy surfing, and remember to come by and see me if you have any questions about how to search for career or college information.

Hi Everyone,

It has been a busy time for 8th Grade.  I know that everyone is happy to have finished the COGAT and ITBS testing.  Everyone seems to have settled into their classes and developed a routine.  Lovinggood's first Spirit Week was a great success.  I saw a lot of very creative outfits in the hallways.  I just wanted to remind students and parents that it is not too soon to begin thinking about High School.  This year will fly by and 9th Grade will be here before you know it.  There are some important dates coming up in regards to the Cobb County Magnet Schools.  Please take note of the dates listed below.  I will add more information as it comes in.  Please remember to check my blog and the school website to stay informed about programs and application deadlines.  I will also have important dates announced during the morning news program.

November 1st @ 7:00 PM - 8th Grade Students and Parents are invited to attend an informational program for the Campbell High School International Baccalaureate Program.  The program will be held in the Livingston Auditorium at Campbell High School.
