Classwork:  Survivor warm-up.

Students continued to work on the final exam studyguide in class.  Teacher went over the answers to questions 1-15 with the students.  You must finish for homework if you did not finish in class.  I will take this for a grade tomorrow.

5th period - Monday, May 23rd

1st & 4th periods - Tuesday, May 24th (Early Release at 12:30 - buses will take you home)

2nd & 3rd periods - Wednesday, May 25th (Early Release at 12:30 - buses will take you home)

Tuesday, May 17

Classwork:  Survivor warm-up day # 4.  Period 4 only (checked homework questions 2,4,6,8,10).  All class period students were given the final exam studyguide.   Students were allowed to work on the studyguide during class with a partner.  Students should finish 15 questions a day in order to not have to complete any work for homework.

STUDYGUIDE is DUE THURSDAY, May 19th.

Monday, May 16th

Any "Where is McDonald's?'  projects were due today (3rd period only) for students who had to re-do the assignment.

Classwork:  Survivor warm-up # 3.  As of last Friday, period 5 was in the lead.    Teacher checked practice B worksheet sect 7-6 (# 1-10) for a grade.   Students were given a challenging assignment for polynomials (1-14)

Students who will be absent tomorrow for Mr. Johnson's club " The Extradionary Writers" then you will need to print the studyguide off the blog and begin working on it.  We will work on the studyguide in class Tuesday and Wednesday and check it Thursday in class.

Tomorrow is CELEBRITY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Dress up for 8th grade spirit week.

CONGRATUALTIONS TO ALL MY STUDENTS THAT PASSED THE CRCT THIS YEAR.  I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YOU HAVE WORKED VERY HARD THIS YEAR AND YOU MADE ME SO PROUD :-)

CLASSWORK:  No warm-up.  Students used the graphing calculators to complete a scavenger hunt worksheet in class to familiarize themselves with the graphing calculator for high school.   We will complete this activity tomorrow during class.

HOMEWORK:  NONE :-)  

Announcements:  Today in homeroom, students were given a letter regarding the Walk to Hillgrove Ceremony, Friday May 20th, and the check out procedures.  If you plan to check out of school after the Walk to Hillgrove you must return this permission form by Thursday, May 12th.

8th FIELDTRIP TO WARM-SPRINGS (Wednesday, May 11th)

Please be at the school at 6:30 Wednesday AM.  We want to have everyone accounted for and on the bus ready to pull away at 7:00.  Please do not be late.

Math 8 and Advanced Math 8

Classwork:  Warm-up (Parent functions  Download Parent Functions warm-up ppt

Students made 2 column notes for notes during class for characteristics of the parent functions.  Students were to work with a partner to come up with the characteristics of the 6 functions.  Next, they joined another pair of students to compare their characteristics.  Next, students wrote their characteristics on the designated butcher paper on the wall.  Students walked around and added new characteristics to the butcher paper and added them to their notes as well.

Except period # 1, students turned in their Discovering Parent Functions worksheet

Homework:  review your notes, bring registration form to your homeroom teacher by Friday, April 29th. 

 

Tuesday, April 26th

Math 8 and Advanced Math 8

Classwork:  Warm-up (function table as a review).  Students started previewing for unit # 1 for Math 1 (9th grade math).  Students were given the worksheet "Discovering Parent Functions."  They had 35 minutes to complete 6 function tables and graphs.  We went over the answers at the end of class to check for accuracy.  Students were to copy and correct their paper.
