Wednesday, May 18

**HOMEROOM/ALL: Make sure to bring a STAMP for your report card so we can mail it to you this summer. If you forget to bring one, your parents will have to come pick it up. No envelope is needed...we have them already labeled! :)

MATH: Today 2nd period played review games in four groups. Congrats to the "Itty Bitty Kittens" for winning the game! ;) Some of you chose to work on the Benchmark study guide instead of playing the review game. Tomorrow we will correct our Systems test and work on our study guide in class. If time, those of you who choose, will be able to retake the test. If there isn't enough time, you may take it Friday in class. *Grant and Meggie...bring me your Systems Brochure Project!!

SCIENCE: Today you revisited Zerbia and helped Dr. California put together a periodic table of the planet's elements. Great job with your critical thinking! We can finish these up tomorrow in class!

 

Tuesday, May 17 *Award Ceremony Tomorrow 9:35 in Theater!

ALL: The ALP award ceremony will be tomorrow morning at 9:35 in the theater. Invite your parents to see you get your awards! (All A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, Students of the Year, etc.)

MATH: Today we finished up the Route 66 activity and turned it in. Some of you may be finishing yours tonight and giving me it tomorrow. Then we started the benchmark study guide problems using a class set of copies. Feel free to print your own copy from the blog!

SCIENCE: Today we completed the "Bonding Basics" practice problems. We also discussed our answers on the Candy Compounds lab, watched a brief video clip on bonding, and then read "A Match Made in Heaven" aloud. HW: Get all make up work done and turned in to me by Thursday or you will be assigned an afternoon detention for that afternoon. We called home today and I gave you printed/highlighted progress reports for those students missing multiple items or the project.

Monday, May 16

MATH: Route 66 Perfomance Task! We will have part of the class period tomorrow to finish these up and turn them in.

SCIENCE: Today we are practicing covalent and ionic bonds with the Candy Compounds Activity! We will also complete a concept map for the warm up and see if we have time to start the Bonding Basics Practice Page.

Friday, May 13th

MATH: Today you chose the Route 66 tasks that you will be completing next week. For now, I want you to do two of them and make them look nice!

HW: PRINT Benchmark Study Guide from blog and put in your notebook...we will look at this next week sometime! Download Benchmark 4Q Study Guide

SCIENCE: Today we are learning how elements bond! We will be discussing a power point and then reading a cute story called "A Match Made in Heaven" to reinforce the concept. If time, we will watch the brainpop on chemical bonding.

Thursday, May 12

MATH: Today I gave you time to complete your unit test from yesterday. The rest of you worked on missing assignments OR had time to play math board games. I'll grade these as soon as I can and update them online.

SCIENCE: Today we watched a movie on the Periodic Table and frequently paused it to answer focus questions. You then got together to fill in the "gaps" that you weren't able to record during the clip. I met with students who are STILL missing work and made sure they had extra copies, etc.

HW: STUDY...you may come in early tomorrow at 8:15 to REDO the last portion of your test on the # of shells, # of valence electrons, and the Lewis Structures.

Wednesday, May 11

MATH: Today we took our unit test! Some of you may need to see me tomorrow morning to finish. I'll give you a little time in class as well.

SCIENCE: Today you took a test on Atoms and the Periodic Table. Afterwards, you read Ch. 13 Sections 1 and 2. The class work included writing the key terms in these sections as well as summarizing the figures.

HW: CHECK YOUR GRADE and complete MAKE UP WORK!!

Tuesday, May 9

MATH: Today we finished our brochure projects! Make sure you print yours tonight and turn it in tomorrow in class!

HW: STUDY for test tomorrow over systems of equations and inequalities!! Check Pinnacle to see if you are missing any work! Download Unit 9 tutoring before test 

SCIENCE: Today we reviewed using a power point...make sure to study for your test tomorrow over Atoms and Matter!

MATH: Today we completed a Systems Study Guide for our test next Wednesday. You only had to complete the problems I selected for your grade! The students who chose to work with me each class did wonderful!

HW: Study/Think or organize ideas for your brochure project!

SCIENCE: Today we dissected frogs! Yippee!

Wednesday, May 4

Thank you for behaving with the sub yesterday while I attended the science professional learning day.

MATH: Today we completed a 2 question lesson check up at the beginning of class. We then finished our Systems Word Problems sheet if we hadn't done so already. Next, I explained the four topic choices for your performance task. You picked the brochure topic of your choice and started brainstorming the content.

HW: Study! You will have a test over Systems of equations and inequalities Tuesday-ish!

SCIENCE: Today we finished up our Ch. 11 work we started yesterday. We then completed a DEMO on froguts.com so we could preview our frog dissection tomorrow. If any of your parents have some disposable gloves we can use that would be great! After reading the one page on Frogs, you wrote a 3-2-1 and taped it to the blue cabinet.

HW: Turn in ALL missing work and work from yesterday for Ch. 11.

I hope everyone learned a lot on the Drug and Alcohol Awareness day on Friday. I've heard some cool stories already!

MATH: Today we learned how to graph systems on inequalities! Remember, the area where the shaded regions overlap is the solution to the set. If they don't overlap, there is no solution. After completing Practice B in class, you were asked to choose 4 out of the 8 problems on back to complete for HW. HW: 4 problems on back (you choose them) show work!

SCIENCE: Today we used the computers to finalize our Adopt an Element or Element Trading Cards assignment. You will turn these in at the start of class on Wednesday. I will be in a science training all day tomorrow so I will have a sub. Please be on your best behavior!
