Lost (and Found) Books and a Wonderful Summer

Thank you for a great end to the school year.  The cards and gifts were very thoughtful.  I hope all of you have a blessed and safe summer.

If you were charged with a lost book and the book is found you will be reimbursed for the cost.  If the book is found at home, please bring it to the school and your money will be refunded.  Thank you for your efforts to get all of our textbooks returned.

Those that owe for books/fees  or that did not send in a stamp will have to pick up their student's report cards.  You can call the front office for times and dates to do so.

Review for Final

Today we did not get to go over the study guide due to a shortened schedule.  You need to bring it with you to the review on Monday.  Tuesday is 3rd period and 5th period finals and Wednesday is 4th period and 6th period finals. 

The only things that you are allowed to bring to school on Monday is your agenda, study guides, pencil, lunch and girls may bring their purses.  NO spirals, binders, bookbags, etc.  You will not have access to your lockers after today.

You can bring nothing but a pencil and lunch (girls can bring purses) on the days of the finals.

Personal Finance ends tomorrow

Tonight you need to review your vocabulary for the Personal Finance Assessment tomorrow.  You should also make sure that your Study Guide for the final is finished (or close to it).

For 5th period, I am attaching the vocabulary for Credit Cards since we missed class on Wednesday due to the Awards Ceremony.

Personal Finance Continued

Today we took what the parents shared with their students last night and began a lesson on budgets.  We used a brain pop video as well as vocabulary and a simulated budget for a child and his part time job (essential and non-essential expenses). 

I am attaching a copy of the ICE packet to the blog.  This is the study guide for the final exam.  If you have your ICE packet in your spiral then you are set.  Go over it, make sure that you have answered all the questions (including Australia).  We will be using the packet on Friday and Monday for review before the finals begin on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Personal FInance

Today we learned a bit about Money.  We worked on some vocabulary and watched a brainpop video.  We took and graded a quiz from the video.  This is the first grade in this category...more will be put in this week.

Remember, Middle School is different from Elementary School and grades will change until the last day of school.  Final Exams are next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Beginning bringing your "at home" textbooks in tomorrow.

Week of May 9-13th

Due to my absence on Friday we are pusing everything with the project forward one day.  Today is the last day to work on the project.  They must be checked off as finished in class today.  There is to be no work done at home.

Tuesday-Friday- Presentations of the Entrepreneur projects will take place each day.  During presentations, each student will fill out an "investors form" and turn it in at the end of the class.

Homework: None

Australia Entrepreneur Project

Today we continued working on our Australia Entrepreneur Project.  Tomorrow was to be our last day, however, due to circumstances beyond my control I will have to be out tomorrow.  The project will be put on hold.  We will complete our last day (including check offs) on Monday and the first presentations will begin on Tuesday.  Remember, this is an in class project and no part of it is to be done at home.

Tomorrow will be devoted to reviewing the material learned this year in anticipation for our fast approaching final exam.

Shark Tank Entrepreneur Project

Today was the first day to work on the Australian Entrepreneur Project.  Remember, this is an in class project.  Students were given guidelines last week (they are posted on the right under pages) as well as a rubric and worksheet today.  Students also drew numbers for presentation order.  Projects will be presented next week.

CUC resumes Thursday.  If you have any work to make up do it now...don't wait until it is too late.  Remediation assignments are still available for the Geography/Map Assessment as well as the Geography and History assessment.  Assignments must be completed prior to CUC so that time can be used for the retakes.  I will not look for students to remediate.  Those that did not master the standard should see me for remediation assignments and a pass for CUC.

Tomorrow is the last day (it has been extended) for the Pre-Registration forms sent home last week.  Any student that does not return the form will need their parents to come to the school in August to register them for the 2011/2012 school year.

Drug and Alcohol Awareness Conference and Your Project

Today the entire day was spent attending speakers for the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Conference. 

You were given a project sheet yesterday and you should all come prepared to work on your project on Monday.  You can see the project sheet and rubric under pages.

Pre-Registration forms were due today.  If you did not return yours they need to be brought in on Monday.

Australian Government and Econ Assessment and Project Announcement

Today in class, all periods except 4th took the Gov. and Econ. Assessment and received their project information.  4th period attended a performing arts performance and will take their assessment on Monday.  Tomorrow we will not follow a regular schedule due to an Alcohol and Drug Awareness Conference that will be taking place during the school day.  I am attaching a copy of the project here for anyone that did not get one today.  Please come in Monday prepared to begin working on the project.
