Winter Holidays

The students are reviewing materiasl in class thus week. Today they had Benchmark test and did well

The students took final examines, cleaned out lockers and had a study period.

May 20, 2008

The students viewed the rest of the movie "Tuck Everlasting" and discussed differences in the movie and the novel.

At 2:00 p. m. today the students of 7B attended the Awards Program.

May 19, 2008

The students began viewing the DVD "Tuck Everlasting".  They will complete the viewing of the DVD on Tuesday. Students will discuss the differences in the novel and the movie and answer questions of opinion.

There will be an Awards Program on Tuesday at 2:00 in the auditorium for 7B.

May 16, 2008

The students completed acrostic poems and skills packets.  Permission slips to watch the movie "Tuck Everlasting" were due today.  If a student missed today the permission slips can be turned in Monday before the movie.

May 15, 2008

Today the students responded to the Novel Unit with key words and supportive details to demondtrate their understanding of the essential question "Why should we read fiction?"   They also worked on projects, acrostic poems and fiction organizers. 

Movie Permission Slips for "Tuck Everlasting" are due Friday.

Today students viewed a power point "Elements of Fiction". The information was reviewed and discussed in preparation for an upcoming test in Language Arts Enrichment.Download elements_of_fiction.ppt .  We reviewed the essential question response, project which is due Friday and acrostic poem.

A Year in Retrospect

The students discussed and answered questions on various topics that occured over the school year such as world leaders,important news stories,women in the news, men in the news, and published books that gained popularity.  Many students proved to be quite knowledgable on the subject.  The discussion was very energetic.

May 12, 2008

Most classes have finished or are near finishing up the novel, "Tuck Everlasting" By Natalie Babbit.  The comprehension questions that accompany the novel will be due at the time of completion.  This lesson is completed in class.  Upon completion the students will then complete an Anticipation Guide Strategy, a Story Elements and a Study Guide which will be done in class.

Projects are due Friday.  Students may work on their projects in class or at home.

The students continued with analogy relationships for warm-ups.The students also continued reading "Tuck Evelasting" by Natalie Babbit and answered comprehension questions after reading each chapter respectively up to chapter25 plus the epilogue.  The questions for this novel should be turned in by Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
