Mowry's Moments

LA: We began our study on the Principle parts of Verbs today with several worksheets to practice. We examined the changes when using irregular verbs. Students came to the board to correct grammar sentences in the daily review, identifying all spelling, grammar, punctuation, and parts of speech used.

No Homework

SS: Students completed the Unit's study guide in class and we went over as a class before dismissal. Their unit test is tomorrow. All Tier vocabulary is due no later than tomorrow. After tomorrow, it will not be accepted as we are moving on to another unit.

HW: Study for Unit test and continue the independent work on your tier assignments.

LA: The students took their 3rd quarter Benchmark test today. We began the principle parts of verbs and will continue the rest of the week with verbs and verb tenses.

No Homeowrk for period 2. First period must complete the 4 correction of grammar sheets for a grade.

SS: We completed our notes on religions with Confusianism and a review of Islam. The students studied independently in class and will complete a study guide tomorrow with our Unit test being on Wednesday. The students will take the 9 week Social Studies Benchmark on Thursday. Continue to work on your tier assignments on your own.

Share LA: The students completed more grammar warm ups and we worked some of these out on the board as a class. We spent the rest of class going through their grammar test from last week that they did so poorly on that I am not counting the grade. Alllof this should be review from 6th grade or earlier. Next week we will begin working with verbs and verb tenses. Students that are out can look this up on internet too and htere will be explanations. Period 2 took their homework sheets with them. Period 1 walked out without them.

SS: We began our Tier assignments today with the different groups. They will work independently over the new weeks to complete these on Fridays only.

No Homework other than Vocabulary words for Tier assignment are all due Monday, illustrated and colored.

LA; The students are continuing their Grammar bootcamp with review of nouns, verbs, predicate nouns, predicated adjectves. We will continue the parts of speech review the rest of this week. Next week we will begin verb review and the principal parts of verbs.

SS: We continued our work on the graphic organizers on the religions of Asia. We again went over the Tier activity they will start tomorow.

LA: We completed 15 more grammar sentences as our warm up. The students are marking all parts of speech. They completed exercises in the Grammar and Writing workbook. We are continuing to review all grammar before CRCT in several weeks.

HW: Stamped Envelope-no address-write grandparents' address in your agenda or other relative.

SS: The students took a two part quiz on Geography of Asia. The first portion was open book. They then took the map part without book identifying 20 areas on the map.

We began our study of the Asian religions today. We are addressing Hinduism today through powerpoint and note taking. Our Unit Test will be Next Wednesday. All contracts for the Tiered assignments are to be signed and returned no later than tomorrow so that we may separate into our tiered groups on Friday.

LA:The students continued work on their grammar warm ups and Grammar and Writing exercises. We reviewed nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, indirect objects, direct objects. prepositional phrases, objects of preposition. We also reviewed punctuation and capitalization. We will continue with the exercises throughout the week. Students need to be reviewing these activities daily for CRCT test review. I gave back their Mock Writing tests to look at and review. We went over the grading and what it meant.

SS: The students reviewed the standards for Chapter 9 to this point. We covered the cause and effects of climate and location of population and the effects this has on the (spaghetti) countries of China, India, Japan, N. Korea, S. Korea and Vietnam. Ask your parents about the % of rice production and where:)

HW: We have a geography quiz tomorrow on the places on their map that they located for the ice pak exercise. Study your maps.

LA: Students took Grammar quiz

SS: Class work day. Students completed reading Chapter 20 assessment, reading, guided reading and map and vocabulary. We will have a map quiz on Wed and all of the above will be due completed for a Geography Grade.

LA: Today we worked on our Grammar Bootcamp Activities again. The students are reviewing adjectives, adjective phrases, adverbs, adverb phrases. Each day the students have had a review homework assignment too. Make sure you have all of this to turn in completed by tomorrow.

SS: Today the students participated in a Pollute the Ganges River activity. This was hands on as the students each were given something to pollute our Ganges river with. They were then ask questions such as "Would you want to drink from this, swim there, bath etc. They completed an EPA worksheet on pollution in Asia.

LA: Today the students reviewed types of conflict in writing- Internal and External. We went over the 4 kinds-Man Vs. Self, Man vs Man, Man vs.Nature, and Man Vs. Society. We further discussed tone in writing and why they were reading the literature selections in class. They then read 2 new stories (folk tales) and answered questions about them. They are to complete all work for the week for grammar and literature to turn in on Friday. They were given another grammar sheet for homework tonight.

SS: Today the students will complete Geo Genie identifying places in Asia using the class atlas. Then then read articles on the rivers of Asia and will complete a poster on saving one of them. This will be completed for homework if not done in class.

LA: Today we continued some exercises in our Grammar Bootcamp. We will spend the week reading some literature passages and doing a lot of grammar exercises to review for the upcoming CRCT.
