May 20, 2009 - Wednesday

ON THIS 178th DAY IN CLASS WE.....

Again updated the moon calender (for the last time), completed and turned in Warm-Up Set #9, looked at today's weather map and predicted from which direction the wind would be blowing. We then went outside to see if our prediction was correct and to find today's moon.

TODAY's WARM-UP: (#8 of Set 9 which concludes this set) During which phase of the moon be when the sun is rising?

HOMEWORK: Dorian, Tommy, Logan, bring in your science  books or pay $70.50 for them.

Periods 1 and 3 will be taking the final tomorrow so please complete and read over the study guide.

ON THIS 177th DAY IN CLASS WE.....

Again, updated the moon calender and talked about today's weather map.  The students then spent the rest of class finishing up yesterday,s activity, Mapping the Moon's Motion, which was collected for a grade.

May 18, 2009 - Monday

ON THIS 176th DAY IN CLASS WE......

Again updated our moon calenders and looked at today's weather map.  We then went outside to identify clouds and find the moon.  Upon returing to class we began an activity called "Modeling the Moons Motion".  We should finish it tomorrow.

Updated the moon calender, looked and talked about today's weather map and finally got to taking the unit test on weather.  THose of you who were absent today, please plan on taking it whhen you return.

ON THIS 172nd DAY IN CLASS WE.....

Updated the moon calender. Looked at today's weather map. Went outside and identified the type of clouds that were out. Then we finished the graphic organizer on Thunderstorms.

TEST: Friday on Weather. You will have a study guide to work on tomorrow and then we'll do review on Thur.

NEXT WEEK TUE.: Year books will be distributed in homeroom and the last 10 minutes of each class will be set aside for signing.  No T-Shirt signing is allowed and no cameras are allowed.

Updated the moon calender, talked about today's weather map, watched a 4 min. video on Air Masses and a 15 min. video on Fronts and Storms.  We then began completing a graphic organizer that goes with a power point on Thunderstorms.  We will finish it tomorrow.

ON THIS 169th DAY IN CLASS WE.....

Answered the warm-up question which completed Set #8 so it was collected.  We then updated the moon calendar and compared today's weather map to yesterday.  We then made a flip book on the four different kinds of weather fronts. The book is to contain a sketch of the front including directional arrows should which was the air masses are moving and the direction of the front itself. It also was to contain information on; 1.How the front forms, 2.The weather it brings, 3.The weather that follows it, 4.The weather map symbol.

ON THIS 168th DAY IN CLASS WE.....

Updated the moon calender, talked about today's weather map and why we were in a tornado watch.  We then started on 16-2 Air Masses and Fronts worksheet and a graphic organizer on air masses.

ON THIS 168th DAY IN CLASS WE......

We updated the moon calender and compared yesterday's national weather map with today.  We then checked the questions on the 15-3 Global and Local Winds packet. Then we completed a review sheet on this section. After those were completed we took a short quiz on local and global winds.  The many of you who were absent today, please expect to take the quiz tomorros.

WARM-UP: (#9 of Set 8) What causes mountain and valley breezes?

FRIDAY 6th Grade Camp Half Blood day.  REMINDER to those students who said they'd bring their own lunch that day - don't forget!  In case it rains my classes will stay inside and watch the animated movie Hercules, BUT, I need for someone to bring it in if the own and would like to do me this favor.
