Last Week!

Can you believe that we're finally here?  This year has really flown by!  This week, I've assigned a multi-step assignment that students may complete to replace their lowest classwork, homework, or quiz grade.  We started it today, and it will be due by the end of class on Wednesday.  We're analyzing Lewis Carroll's poem, "Jabberwocky."

Finals will be on Thursday and Friday.

Honors Celebration on Tuesday at 2:30.  Seventh grade end-of-the-year celebration during connections on Wednesday.

Tuesday 5/12

We continue to work on the end of the year magazine projects.  We'll be in lab 622 on Wednesday so those students who are finishing up can print.  We'll bind and present the magazines on Thursday and Friday!

Thursday 5/7

Students continued to work on our end of the year magazine projects, adding the expository pieces to it today.  On Friday, we'll add the Response to Literature and catch up on any pieces that have not been added.

Wednesday 5/6

Magazine Covers were due at the beginning of class today.  Students worked on the two narrative pieces (memory narrative and mysterious happening narrative).  On Thursday, we'll add the persuasive research paper, the how to survival essay, and a product review and movie summary.

Make sure you are keeping up so that you aren't stuck at the last minute with too much work to do!

Tuesday 5/5

We're officially working on our End of the Year Magazine projects now!  Today, students designed covers for their magazines.  Covers may be designed using www.magmypic.com or making a custom cover using Word or Publisher.  Remember to include references to articles that may be found on the inside.

We'll work on editing and formatting the narrative pieces on Wednesday to include in the magazine.

We completed our last journal entry today!  Then, I introduced our end of the year magazine project (TWO test grades).  Here is the information and rubric:Download Magazine project.  Get this signed tonight!  Also remember to bring your USB drives with any files and pictures that you want to use in your magazine.

Friday 5/1

Today we celebrated the completion of all of the Apprentice Tasks by having a BAD Day.  On Monday, we'll begin our end-of-the-year project.

There are a few of you who have not turned in your WAG books yet!  Don't forget to bring them to class on Monday.

Thursday 4/30

Today we completed a few more Mad Libs for a warm-up.  Then, students worked in partners to complete a dictionary scavenger hunt to brush up on their skills.

Wednesday 4/29

After a invigorating warm-up (and part of speech review) of MadLibs, I announced the final rankings for the Apprentice Competition.  Then, students completed an EQ quiz on Technical Writing. 

You may start bringing your WAG books to turn in on Thursday.
