From the desk of Mr. Ferrell and Mr. Erwin,
Mr Ferrell and Mr Erwin will be visiting Lovinggood and Lost Mountain Middle Schools after the CRCT in April. We will be interviewing and auditioning each 8th grade band member in this process.
We will visit Lost Mountain Middle School on April 19th - 22nd, and Lovinggood Middle School on April 25th - 29th.
The purpose of this is to answer any questions students may have, clear up any misconceptions or myths students may have about high school band, and to hear any student play who would like to audition for Symphonic Band or Wind Symphony for the Fall of 2011.
Students who would like to audition for one of the top two bands will play:
1. As many scales as they can in 2 minutes time
2. Chromatic Scale (untimed)
3. One musical excerpt of the student's choice that he/she feels showcases his/her skills. This can be band music, and etude, anything...
4. Sight Reading
We will be speaking to each and every student during this process. Those who have not signed up for high school band will be given the opportunity to do so at that time.
