I can't believe its Week # 4 already!

Mon. 8/31-  Completion of Super Food Partner Presentations-  ALL GRADES ARE IN

Tues.- 9/1-  Beginning a new unit- Consumerism and Finance- Day 1  SUPER FOOD TEST

Wed.- 9/2- Banks and Bucks & Check Writing, too!

Thurs.- 9/3-  Power of Advertising and credit  "STASH, SPEND, SHARE" Activity-GRADE

Fri.- 9/4- Consumerism via US Govt. comic books

Manners this week:   The Power of first impressions and how to make good ones!

It's A Super Week of Super Foods!

This week, the students will be presenting their "Food Network-style" partner presentations on their selected "Super Food."  They have the detailed requirements via a hand-out. We have broken it down repeatedly in class and the students appear to be fully ready and excited!  It is a lab grade and will be posted as they complete it. Any questions- please E-Mail me.  This project is great exposure to nutrients, the power of foods,  basic culinary skills, service knowledge, careers in the food industry, etc. AND they love it!

This week:
Mon.- Fri-  Super Food Partner Presentations- GRADED DAILY AS A LAB
Thurs.- Meals and Manners Home Lab is due (given on Fri.) (GRADE)

Manners/Etiquette:
1- Opening doors
2- Power of "Thank you"- written and verbal

NOTE: The students have selected one of the 14 Super Foods and a date to present it to the class. Welcome to FACS!

It just doesn't get any better than this!  FACS is a great class at a great school with great students!
A few notes to acquaint you with the course:

1- Family & Consumer Science is so much more than its former course...Home Ec.!  The curriculum is fast-paced, updated and hands-on! Example:  We no longer just bake cookies. We still bake, but within the lesson we learn the basics of measurement, recipe conversions, nutrient contents, origins of foods and its contributions to our body, etc.
2- The FACS Blog will be updated every Monday morning for the week.  I will list the weekly plans and highlight any work/grades that are due in BOLD RED LETTERS.
3- The syllabus is located on my blog to the right if you need additional access.

5- In addition to our curriculum, the students will be taught 2 new manners/etiquette each week.
