Culinary Character Week

The students will present their research along with a food item sample on the culinary character they chose (on the date they chose) with their partners.  It is a great project that sharpens research  and presentation skills, teaches power point creation, explores nutrition facts and profitability of the food industry, uncovers career opportunities, distinguishes between healthy foods and fads, applies food safety & sanitation principles, etc.  It is loaded!  It is FUN, too!     Grades will be entered on Tuesday- March 31 at the completion of all presentations

Word of the week: flexibilty

Manner/Etiquette of the week:     #3- Seating a lady properly

They are doing great!

Welcome to FACS!

Welcome to all new FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) students and parents!  Our class works a little differently than others, so please allow me to "hit the high notes."

1- THE BLOG-  I will post the daily plans, student needs, due date(in red) and assignments every Monday-am for the entire week.   Check on Mondays and you are good to go!

2- TEACHER CONTACT- Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.  All are welcome. My quickest response will always be to my E-Mail:  dawn.castleberry@cobbk12.org

3- In addition to our fast-paced curriculum standards of personal development, living environments, parenting/childcare, and nutrition/wellness, we accomplish other categories as well.  Each week (and I will post them) , the students will learn 2 new manners/etiquette tips.  They will have a "word of the week." They will  learn a life skill- punctuality, handling stress, employability skills, etc.

4- SUPPLIES-  At several times throughout the 9 weeks, your student will need to bring in fabric, pillow stuffing, a food item, etc.  I will always give 2 weeks notice and a listing of inexpensive places to purchase them.

THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE:    Assignments highlighted in red.
