Update for Friday 5/16/2008

Tomorrow is the last day to work on movies.

Movies will be shown in class next week.

Grades have been updated.  I will send home the last progress report tomorrow.  If a students has missed a test or quiz they must make it up by next Friday to receive credit. 

There are only 2 assignments left to record.  The movie project and the final exam.  Combined they can effect student grades by 16%.  The movie is worth 10% of students grade and the exam is worth 6%.  

The following is a list of concepts learned throughout the year to study for the exam. Use the writing and grammar workbook as well as many of the websites I have posted on this blog throughout the year.

  • sentence types
  • correcting run-ons and fragmented sentences
  • verb tenses
  • punctuation
  • eliminating extraneous details from paragraphs

Period 4 and 6 will be administered Thursday

Period 3 5 and 7 Will be administered Friday

Revising Packet

For students who did not complete the revising process in class, attached is the revising packet we have been using in class for the last 3 days.  This is due in class tomorrow.  If you forget your story you will receive a 0

Update Thursday 5/8

Tomorrow it the absolute last day to scan, copy, paste and add pictures and songs to your school account for use in your movie project.  Tomorrow will also be a peer editing day and second drafts of your narratives will be composed in class and due at the end of the period.  I will not accept late stories from anyone that decided to take their story home.  I will not accept pictures after tomorrow!

Update Wednesday 5-7-08

As we continue the scanning process it is very important that students understand that if they don't bring pictures here by Friday they are going to take a 0 on the movie project.

Pictures can be brought in the following form:

hard copies to scan

Saved on a USB drive

Burned on a CD-R

School appropriate songs and video files may be used as well as long as they are brought by Friday using the above format.

Wednesday: Continue Revising Narratives homework #5 Bring pictures to scan

Thursday: Edit Narratives homework: # 6 bring pictures to can

Friday: Final compositions. All scanning complete!

Monday: finish technical writing stations; Homework: website evaluation due Wednesday.

Tuesday: Introduce end of the year projects; Homework: Decide type and topic for narrative; begin creating/finding pictures for movie project

Wednesday: Computer lab day to finish magazine project; Homework: Application due Friday; continue finding pictures for movie project

Thursday: Technical writing quiz; Homework: continue finding pictures for movie project

Friday: Essential question response; Homework: students with the #1 must bring pictures Monday to scan or save them on a USB drive
